Dear Reader,
I want to take a few moments to talk to you about a subject that’s dear to my heart. Specifically, I want to share how everyone can quickly improve their overall health.
For most of human history, diet was the only means to obtain nutrients. Food sources adequate for even basic nutrition were subject to availability, seasonal variation, droughts, spoilage, lack of transportation, and simple economic factors. Even in an era prior to pesticides and genetically modified organisms (GMOs), most people were not able to obtain the nutritional support they needed.
You might think that the modern era has improved the situation. Sadly, even today most individuals can’t meet their nutritional needs solely through diet. This remains true even when we pay considerable attention to our food sources. The failure to obtain basic nutrition results in part from lack of understanding (and misinformation), but it also relates directly to an unsustainable modern food system that churns out foods depleted of basic nutrients. And that’s before we consider how modern foods are processed!
It is unfortunate that most people don’t obtain adequate levels of basic nutrients, especially given that nutrition pioneers (including Weston A. Price) long ago demonstrated how inadequate dietary intake results in conditions of poor health. These pioneers greatly contributed to our understanding of nutrition required for health.
Nevertheless, as a result of their work we have options. Making wise choices that build health has, frankly, never been easier.
I started using the term “foundational supplements” more than 20 years ago. I love the phrase because it so perfectly describes the concept: when individuals get the foundation right, amazing health can be built to withstand all sorts of challenges!
I recommend every person, regardless of current health, start with Foundational Supplements. The four basic categories of Foundational Supplements include: 1) a multivitamin that provide high levels of nutrients; 2) essential fats needed by the body for many critical functions; 3) Antioxidants / vitamin C (especially with bioflavonoids); and 4) a high-RNA superfood, which supplies critically needed nucleic acids in the form of dietary RNA and DNA.
I’ve also written A Comprehensive Guide to Foundational Supplements which I invite you to take a look at. It lays out an argument for how these specific nutrients work together, and explains why they’re so necessary today. While the subject of basic nutrition is vast, it’s my deepest hope that I can steer you in the right direction an orient you on your personal path toward optimal health!
